JENNIFER LARACY : BROOCH & NECKLACE
JENNIFER LARACY : BROOCH & NECKLACE
Jennifer's exhibition works are primarily one-off pieces that often focus on materiality and a provincial vernacular extending on themes of identity and location. Jennifer has an intuitive approach to her practice; works are often prompted by sketches and resolved using a wide variety of found and natural materials and construction techniques.
“The creative process for me is not always linear, there is usually quite a bit of to and fro a jostle of materials and ideas to reach a resolution. Sometimes works will stay on my workbench at length unfinished, scrappy, full of potential and frustratingly hard to tame”
The eye brooch was made in 2018 to ward off the evil eye.
I started making the necklace somewhere in 2018 and finished for SWAMP WITCH in 2024 it is a love song to the sea, depicting the ocean waves, creatures under a night sky.
